💎💎💎 GWEN 1990s 💎💎💎 Gwen is fun and feisty with lots of energy—just like the 90s.

In a decade when pop music became brighter and more energetic, so this ring captures the spirit of women finding a new voice.

Gwen is understated but has fine proportions and even hides sun symbols on her underside. Kati, the designer and Goldsmith of Gwen, says this ring represents living on the edge. It is a platinum pave set ring, with 1.06 carats of diamonds.

Gwen is a ring that an independent woman would choose for herself and represents the emerging role of women in New Zealand in the 1990s.
Taranaki in the 90s: As the Coastal Walkway brings added life to New Plymouth’s CBD, Dalgleish Jewellers moves to the beating heart of the community in its current premises at 7 Devon Street West. #dalgleishdiamond #decades #1990s #1990sstyle #handcrafted #handcraftedjewelry #design #fun #localbusiness

💎💎💎FRANCES 1980’s 💎💎💎 Everything in the 80s was big: hair, shoulder pads and the mixing-and-matching of jewellery to make bold statements. Striking jewellery pieces were in and Frances is certainly that.

She was inspired by the ring made famous by Princess Diana in 1981 and has been a recognisable design ever since.

This stunning hand-crafted ring is designed and made by Bill, our Manufacturing Goldsmith, and is made of platinum and 18ct yellow gold, with a 4.63ct Madagascan sapphire, surrounded by 1.80 carats of diamonds.

Frances is a ring that will never fade with the sunset or when the rain sets in.

Taranaki in the 80s: In 1985, after 66 years in business and contributing massively to the New Plymouth community, Dalgleish Jewellers entered a new and exciting chapter with the change in ownership from the Dalgleish family. ‘Decades’ by Dalgleish Diamonds is on display in store, or view them on our website.
💎💎💎 JUNE 1970s 💎💎💎 June is lively and floral—always ready to head out with flares, hot pants and a free spirit. She has her own playful nature being two rings but designed to be worn as one.

Women in the 1970s loved to use jewellery to make bold statements and were flamboyant and vibrant in their choices. Named after a strong mum, the concept of the ring is based on June’s actual ring from the 70s.

June is designed and made by our Goldsmith, Kati, who was inspired by the visuals of florals and kaleidoscope videos of the time. The ring is crafted in 18ct yellow gold with a 0.51ct brilliant round diamond and petals created from eight smaller diamonds.

Taranaki in the 70s: In 1970, Monica Brewster transformed New Plymouth’s Regent Theatre into the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, which Len Lye later called “the swingiest art gallery in the antipodes”—a sign that New Plymouth was finding its feet as a destination for artistic expression.
